Farm Tours located in Baltimore County with Farmer Wayne
Students will be able to experience a pumpkin patch with Farmer Wayne. As you are walking Farmer Wayne will talk more in depth about how pumpkins are planted, developed, cut, and more. After they learn about the process of growing a pumpkin, students will be able to pick out their very own to bring home with them.
The fall farm tour will include a corn maze where students will be able to explore and have fun while learning about the corn that surrounds them. As well as corn they will learn about other crops that grow in fields just like the one they are in. This is a great way for them to see how crops are grown up close while having fun with their friends!
Live animals will be a part of the fall farm tour that students will be able to observe and ask questions about! Students will be asked to participate in an option of games/relay races. As always the chaperones and teachers will be immersed into the farm life by learning alongside the students.
As well as educating students about the identification of fruits and vegetables, they will have the opportunity to create their own garden to take home. This garden will contain seeds like onions, squash, pumpkins, and more. After learning about the preparation of the food farmer's make available to us, they will be able to grow their own food at home.
Our spring farm tour involves mock honey bee hives that will educate children on why bees are so important. A pound of honey will also be given to each class that partakes in the farm tour to bring back to their classroom.
Students will participate in a pot relay race where team work is incorporated. Live farm animals are also on the site of the farm tour that students will be able to interact with. Along with the students learning, the teachers and chaperones also get to learn more about the farm life with Farmer Wayne!
